Jim Colyn

Jim Colyn is a Registered Lead Assessor of Quality Systems (RAB) with more than twenty (20) years experience in Quality Systems Management, and the President and principal consultant for Jim Colyn and Associates Quality Consulting, specializing in compliance for the tissue industry.

Jim's experience includes 7 years as Director of Quality and Compliance for one of the nation's largest tissue processor and medical device companies, with responsibilities for ensuring overall compliance to Federal and State Regulations, and American Association of Tissue Bank (AATB) Standards for Tissue Banking. In that role, Jim and his staff of 30+ quality professionals compiled an enviable regulatory compliance history.

Jim has served as Chairman of the AATB Education Committee, and member of the AATB Quality Taskforce, who are responsible for the Annual AATB Quality Workshop.

He has led in the successful ISO 9000 registration of five (5) establishments in the oil service tools, plastics and elastomer industries, and ISO 13485:2003 Registration of two (2) Human Tissue/Medical Device Organizations.

Jim is a frequent speaker with the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB), Pharma Conference, American Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO), Eye Bank Association of America, (EBAA), North American Transplant Coordinators Organization (NATCO), and is a faculty member of The Center for Professional Advancement.

Rusty Adams

Rusty Adams is an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) with 25 years’ experience in Tissue Banking Quality Assurance and laboratory sciences. Rusty has a B.S. Degree in Medical Technology from Old Dominion University, where he was the recipient of the “Outstanding Student Award in Medical Technology.” (1978). Rusty has also received training and earned accreditations form the American Society for Clinical Pathologists and National Certification Agency for Clinical Laboratory Personnel.

Rusty’s extensive experience in the tissue industry includes serving both recovery organizations and tissue processors in the following positions: Director of Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, Technical Director, Administrator of Recovery Operations, and Tissue Recovery Manager. His laboratory experience includes microbiology, histocompatibility, and blood banking technology.

As a member of the AATB, Rusty has served on the Accreditation and Standards Committees, and is a member of the American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

David Colyn

David Colyn is an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) Certified Tissue Bank Specialist and a Certified Tissue Bank Auditor.  He is a seasoned business professional with eleven (11) years of management experience in various industries. He has successfully started and run his own franchise business, and has been responsible for the profitability of a nationally recognized retail outlet with $8.4 million revenue per year. David earned his AA Degree from Glendale Community College, and his BS Degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

A member of American Society for Quality, David is an Associate Auditor and Training Coordinator for Jim Colyn and Associates Quality Consultants, LLC. He is responsible for managing our training series and setting up regional training sessions with our team of experts.

Judy Colyn

With fifteen (15) plus years as an Human Resources (HR) professional, Judy brings a variety of services to our clients. During her past five (5) years as Director of HR at a resort community with over 400 employees, her training responsibilities encompassed management, new supervisors, and general employee training.

As a member of the organizations’ Senior Management Team, Judy’s responsibilities have included, but not limited to:

  • Employee safety;
  • Management of the workers compensation program;
  • Annual insurance renewals for medical, vision, dental and other packages;
  • 401(k) plan responsibilities;
  • Development of, and directing staff on new hire orientations;
  • Employee relations, including mediation and investigations of allegations;

Prior history includes nine (9) years as Director of HR for a well-known biotech organization where, in addition to the expected HR duties, she also managed the outplacement of staff during relocation from state-to-state at a critical stage when outgoing staff was required to double production.

Following the nine years with the biotech firm, Judy took a sabbatical from HR when she owned and managed a ladies gym for 2 ½ years. She understands the challenges of running a small business, yet has the experience of maintaining compliance in a larger organization.
